Who do I call in an emergency?
Always call 911. This applies to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, and any hazardous condition.
What is the non-emergency number?
(970) 897-2329. Use this number for questions, burn notifications, and district business — never for an emergency.
Does Nunn Fire take patients to the hospital?
No. Nunn Fire is a non-transport BLS agency. We provide patient care on scene until a partnering ambulance agency arrives to transport.
Our district
What area does Nunn Fire cover?
We cover 529 square miles serving Nunn and Carr, including 7 miles of Interstate 25 and Highway 85 from County Road 90 north to the Colorado/Wyoming border.
Is Nunn Fire a paid department?
Nunn Fire is 100% volunteer, operating from one station in Nunn.
Burning
Do I need a permit to burn?
Yes. All open burning in the district requires a Weld County burn permit. The one exception is a small fire pit used for recreation.
Where do I get a burn permit?
Permits are issued by Weld County at apps.weld.gov/health/burnpermits. Once you have your permit, call us at (970) 897-2329 with your permit number and the date you plan to burn. See Burn permits for details.
Can I burn on a Red Flag day?
No. No burning may take place on a Red Flag day, permit or not.

How do I become a volunteer?
We are currently seeking volunteers for all positions and training is provided. Call (970) 897-2329 or email [email protected]. See Volunteer for eligibility requirements.
Do I need experience?
No. All recruits receive in-house training on daily operations and basic firefighting and medical skills, and additional opportunities are available for Firefighter I and EMT certification.
